Come quickly, Lord, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die. Let me hear of Your unfailing love each morning for I am trusting in You. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to You.” (vv. 4-8 NLT)

Psalm 142

As psalm of David, regarding his experience in the cave. A prayer.

“I cry out to the Lord; I plead for the Lord’s mercy. I pour out my complaints before Him and tell Him my troubles. When I am overwhelmed, You alone know the way I should turn.

Wherever I go, my enemies have set traps for me. I look for someone to come and help me, but no one give me a passing thought! No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me.

Then I pray to You O Lord, I say,’You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life. Hear my cry, for I am very low. Rescue me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me. Bring me out of prison so I can thank you. The godly will crowd around me, for You are good to me.'”

You watched me as I was being form in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

How precious are You thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!” (vv. 13-18, NLT)

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. point out anything in me that offends You, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” (vv.23-23, NLT)

Psalm 139, Part 2

“I can never escape from Your Spirit! I can never get any from Your presence! If I go up to heaven, Your are there. If I go down to the grave, You are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there Your hand will guide me, and You strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to be come night – but even in darkness I cannot hide from You. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to You.” (vv. 7-12, NLT)

“O Lord, You have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before it say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place Your blessing on my head. Psalm 138

“Give thanks, O Lord, with all my heart; I will sing Your praises before the gods. I bow before Your holy Temple as I worship. I praise Your name for Your unfailing love and faithfulness; for Your promises are backed by all the honor of Your name. As soon as I pray, You answer me; You encourage me by giving me strength.

Every king in all the earth will thank You, Lord, for all of them will hear Your words. Yes, they will sing about the Lord’s ways, for the glory of the Lord is very great. Though the Lord is great, He cares for the humble, but He keeps His distance from the proud.

For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head., that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is a refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the. mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.”

Psalm 130

A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem

“From the depths of despair, O Lord, I call for your help. Hear my cry, O Lord. Pay attention to my prayer.

Lord, if You kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive? But You offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear You.

I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on Him. I have put why hope in His word. I long for the Lord more than the sentries long of the dawn; yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.

O Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows. He Himself will redeem Israel form every kind of sin.”

“How joyful are those who fear the Lord – all who follow His ways! You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful an prosperous you will be! May the Lord continually bless you from Zion. May you see Jerusalem prosper as long as you live. May you live to enjoy your grandchildren . May Israel have peace!”
